| 6 - 7 SEP: BARMEDMAN SHOW & BARMEDMAN UTE SHOW Annual agricultural show (both days) and 10th annual Beaut Ute Competition on the 6th. Admission $10 Adults to enter show (2 day entry) and extra $10 to enter in ute competition ($5 pre-registered utes - register early & pay on the day). Entries taken from 9am - 1pm, Judging between 1pm - 4pm. Includes Circle Work Demonstrations, "Bare-facts" playing Saturday evening at the showgrounds and Tori Darke appearing at Barmedman Hotel, Friday 8pm & Saturday 9.30pm and at the Show Saturday 5.00 to 6.00pm and Sunday 4.00 to 5.00pm. Courtesy bus available on Saturday night from showgrounds to Barmedman and Queensland Hotels at 10pm. | 26 JAN: AUSTRALIA DAY POOL PARTY An inaugural celebration held in 2008 set to become an annual event. Free fun activities include a jumping castle, face painting, water slide, BBQ tea, organised games, and performances by local band. This is a non-alcohol event and that children must to be accompanied by an adult. Entrance free. Open 12.00pm. | 26 JAN: PACE FARM AUSTRALIA DAY PAVLOVA COMPETITION An inaugural celebration held in 2006 set to become an annual event. To celebrate this great Australian icon and recognise the egg industry in West Wyalong, residents are encouraged to enter their interpretation of an 'Australian' pavlova. The options are limitless from traditional pavlovas to modern day interpretations with that little something different. Generous prize money is up for grabs within the open adult and children's (ages 15 and under) categories. The Bland Shire Australia Day Ambassador will be the judge. Entrants are to deliver their pavlovas on Australia Day to the Quota Club Breakfast in the Park by 7.45am for registration and judging. | 27 - 28 FEB: WEST WYALONG RUGBY LEAGUE KNOCKOUT Annual football competition - now in its 37th year. The premier pre-season event in country NSW, an evening competition under lights. Teams from the Riverina, Central West, ACT and South Coast compete for $10,000 prize money. Starts 6.00pm on the Friday and 4.00pm on the Saturday (finals Saturday night). CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY
Help clean up our Shire!
Volunteers are asked to meet at Lion's Park (at the plane) with gloves, a hat, sturdy shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen, where you will be provided with bags and given an opportunity to fill out the registration forms. You will then be transported by bus to one of the pre-arranged locations.
Registration will commence at 8.00am; bus will leave at approximately 8.20am.
