The railway line to West Wyalong (and beyond), as in many country centres, no longer carries passenger services - only freight (mostly wheat). Instead a CountryLink bus service connects West Wyalong south with Cootamundra (via Barmedman and Temora) daily (connect to rail for Sydney, Melbourne); and north to Condoblin (via Ungarie and Lake Cargellico).

| ROAD | ||||||||
|
West Wyalong lies on the Newell Highway, the major inland north-south highway in New South Wales. It is also on the crossroad of the Mid-Western Highway - east to Bathurst and Sydney, and west to Mildura and Adelaide. Being a good day's drive from either Melbourne/Adelaide or Brisbane/Sydney, it is a popular place to stop overnight and refresh. Good country roads also lead directly south-east to Young, Yass and Canberra. The map below allows you to see West Wyalong's central location.
